Final Fantasy Unlimited Review

Visually

The drawn animation is pretty normal as standards go. However, whenever Kaze fire his Magun, it switches over to a cel-shaded, 3D sequence. Personally, I think that this sequence is out of place and would have looked much nicer hand drawn. Also, the sequence is quite lengthy and, as you may have guessed, Kaze uses his Magun quite often and the entire sequence is executed every time. This sequence is the main reason why I give the animation such a low rating.

Also, younger audiences may be creeped out by the excessive use of seemingly living eyeballs implemented into some vehicles and structures.

Audio

The sound, although composed by my favorite Japanese composer Nobuo Uematsu, it is really quite boring. The music is mostly ambient, even the opening song is mostly ambient. Also, the famous battle winning score occurs after most battles near the beginning of the series.

Storyline

The story is about 2 children wanted to find their parents so they set off to the inner world. To enter the inner world they had to go by sub way, they waited for about 2-3mins. Suddenly a black train came... They were not sure if they wanted to go in or not. But there was a sudden bell telling them to hurry up. So they entered in there they met this girl. She is amazing she has the skill of the genesis its like marcial arts. When they exited the train they had to climb long stairs. When they finally reached it...

DVD

I think you should know now that I never buy anime so I wouldn't know any of these...

Overall

While being Final Fantasy, it doesn't quite live up to the standards set by the games. FFU, in my opinion, is presented and shoved along a little too fast. The first five episodes move along at a fast pace and the characters are shoved into an adventure in which they really don't know how to carry out. They moreover just go with the flow and deal with events as they randomly happen.

Ah yes, almost forgot, the intro to each episode is rather annoying. As Fabula our Guide recaps the seemingly obvious occurrences of the previous episode.
