Gundam SEED Destiny

Cosmic Era 73. Though the signing of a peace treaty brought the war between the Naturals and Coordinators to an apparent close, tensions fueled by the continued threat of Blue Cosmos continue to run high. During a conference between PLANT chairman Gilbert Dullindal and Orb representative Cagalli Yula Athha concerning the threat of a new military arms race, an Alliance special forces team attacks the ZAFT base they're meeting at and makes off with three new Gundam mobile suits. Forced to pursue them, Shinn Asuka of ZAFT and Athrun Zala of Orb set out aboard the new space battleship Minerva, and engage the retreating Alliance strike team in combat. But just as they catch up to the fleeing ship, the crew of the Minerva receives word of an even greater catastrophe in the making, which will undoubtedly re-ignite the brutal war between the Naturals & Coordinators all over again.

Greatness!

I support Lancer all the way! Shinn is a great character and quite believable even though he does go on my nerves sometimes, so don't listen to people who can't watch these series without first Seed attached to it and Kira as a main character. Good storyline and great set of characters. Good fighting scenes but with too much over usage of the same animation. Can't tell more unless spoiling so I won't say anything else. I would give it a 4 stars but with most kids giving it two and labeling as bad, I will give it five. Thumb up!

Cool!

Hey guys, I know you don't think this series was as good as the first one. I also know most of you hate the main character(Shinn). Probably because he's obnoxious, stubborn, arrogant, stupid and one of those people who blames everyone else for his problems.

Well guess what! The main character was actually made that way by the director on purpose. He said that the youth of Japan were getting to be pretty rude lately so he decided to make the character based off them. He said the reason why so many people hated is because it was like looking at themselves in a mirror. I read it in one of those anime magazines about a year ago though I can't remember which one. Just thought you might like to know that interesting little tidbit.

By the way,I hated him too at first.LOL

I gotta say, it is an awesome story once you get past the main character. While many people say that this one feels like a copy of the original seed, I didn't think so mainly because it goes delves deeper into the problems and questions that Kira and Athrun have.

The fight scenes are way better in this series then it was in the first one. I'm still pretty mad about how Shinn beat Kira though.(sigh) Oh well

Anyway 5 stars in my opinion

sorry guys....

but this anime IS bad......
>>sure the music is terrific, much better than Gundam SEED
>>and i knew that they are trying to make Shinn the complete opposite of that seemingly heartless Kira, but one thing that this Shinn lacks is brain...how come he can mercilessly kill people but when it comes to that Stellar he became that ......stupid, i mean it's like there's no really clear reason for him being all angry and stuff the whole series, and that turning to Lunamaria just make me even more sick of him
>>seriously.....this series lacks character development..LACKS...
>>and not to mention Ahrun, where's his love for Cagalli? it ends just like that ?!?!?
>>so Lohengrin can be repelled by everyone now? what's the fun in it? if u want real Gundam battle, it should be like Gundam 00
>>sorry guys, but this show just doesnt please me at all, that's why i gave it 2 stars

Nice MS

Shinn Asuka experienced a similar situation as Kira in Gundam Seed. However, he is too easily affected by the words of others and hence, easily manipulated by the Chairman and his friends. Secondly, he blames everything and anything bad that happened on the others and uses the fact of his victimization as an excuse to act like a brainless emo destroyer. Shinn Asuka tends to get conceited easily upon any achievements and openly despises those that he thinks are weaker than him. He does not understand true strength and thinks the world of himself when clearly, he is not the strongest. Although it is true that Shinn was struck with far more tragedies than anyone should experience, he allowed his emotions to get the better of him and cloud his judgment. Furthermore, Shinn tends to misdirect his hatred on the wrong person on more than one occasion.

*WARNING - Potential spoilers below*

After the long building up of hate for Shinn, it was nice to see how he got his @ss handed to him by Athuran in the end. At one point, he even brutally murdered the colonel that saved his life although I agree that there is no way he could have known then. Near the end, the few main gundams can be said to be of equal strength other than the fact that the Destiny gundam needs to recharge itself due to the lack of a nuclear generator. However, I do not believe that the Justice and Freedom was stronger than the Destiny gundam in terms of combat capabilities.

Think of it this way, Each of the three gundams are specced differently. The Strike Freedom is made for multi-targeting ranged combat. The Infinite Justice is made to be versatile between Range and melee combat. The Destiny is made for speed and to excel in melee combat. Thus at the sword clash point, the Justice gundam was not any stronger than the Destiny gundam especially since they are doing melee combat at that point of time. Furthermore, Shinn was already using his seed program and yet Athuran managed to slice off an arm without using seed. At that point of time, Shinn Asuka is more than experienced in combat. However, in the end, it is heartening to see that Shinn Asuka finally realized for the first time in the whole show what he really wants. This can be seen when he shed tears of relief upon hearing that Orb was not destroyed by the Requiem. At that moment, my personal hate for him died.

One of the main attractions of Gundam Seed Destiny will have to be the new mobile suits and that the songs were above average.
