Tenchi Muyo

Although this TV series was released after the Tenchi Muyo OAVs, everything is different. Tenchi Universe is like an alternative version of the whole Tenchi saga. Several girls coming from different parts of the galaxy somehow manage to squeeze themselves into Tenchi`s once ordinary life. There`s Ryoko, the notorious space pirate; Aeka, the first princess of the planet Jurai; Mihoshi and Kiyone, a pair of bumbling space detectives... add a crazy scientist, another alien princess, some menacing enemies and you`ve got a madcap and adventure-filled series that is Tenchi Universe. But what`s this? It looks like Tenchi himself is decended from alien royalty too!

Ryoko i love you!!!!

Although i'm a little old for this kind of show, i'm a sucker for a good-old space pirate....namely Ryoko. The original series was really good, as far as i'm concerned but i must confess that i've not seen much of this Tenchi in Tokyo series so am not really qualified to comment on it. Needless to say, if it's anything like the earlier series then it's bound to be okay. If it's not the harem show for you then maybe you should try Elfen Lied?!

A fave of mine for over a decade.

Watched it long before it aired on TV. I was hooked on this series as soon as Ryouko first made her appearance. It's just sad that the creators butchered her as time passed. But she still remains as one of the best anime characters in existence. Without Ryouko, Tenchi Muyo would have been a failure.

Going by the order of the individual stories, it's actually:

Original series: Ryo-ohki OAV 1, Night Before The Carnival, OAV 2, OAV 3, GXP

Mihoshi's GP Adventure is related to the OAV series, but not actually canon and doesn't have a specific time frame.

TV series 1: Universe, In Love, Forever/In Love 2

TV series 2: Tenchi in Tokyo

Manatsu No Eve/Daughter Of Darkness is a standalone movie, which is based off the Hasegawa novels. It has elements of both the Ryo-ohki OAV and Universe series but has no direct relation to either.
